Iranian Guards Vow to 'punch' U.S.

Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards said they would not bow to pressure and threatened to "punch" the U.S., in their first response to Washington's plan to list them as a terrorist organization, newspapers reported Saturday.
Local press in the Iranian capital of Tehran quoted Revolutionary Guards leader Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi saying that he could understand Washington's ire toward the group because of their "leverage" against the U.S.

"America will receive a heavier punch from the guards in the future," he was quoted as saying in the conservative daily Kayhan. "We will never remain silent in the face of U.S. pressure and we will use our leverage against them."

There was no elaboration on what Safavi meant by the punch or the organization's "leverage."

Washington has accused the Guards of supporting militias and insurgent groups attacking U.S. forces in Iraq -- charges Iran denies.
The question I have is why is the Iran's Revolutionary Guard listed as a terrorist group by the Saudi Arabian government is not? Who is supplying the Sunni insurgents with the financial and military support to kill our troops? It is certainly not the Iranians. Where did 15 of the 19 hijackers come from on 9/11/01?

This is more smoke and mirrors from this administration that wants war with Iran. Am I the only one that finds it extremely hypocritical for Vice President Cheney to seek military action against Iran after doing business with this supposed terrorist country, in violation of U.S. law when he was the head of Halliburton?

The Iraq war is a business deal gone bad and now we are going to repeat the same mistake but with whose children? Certainly not the war mongers. Wake up America. It is time to rid our government of these criminals.

Cheney in 94: No Additional Casualties Were Worth Going To Baghdad

So what happened between 1994 and 2003 that made the additional casualties worth it? These talking head fools on the nightly news will be spouting their usual 9/11 garbage. The problem with that argument is that Iraq was not involved with 9/11 and that is a provable fact. Could it be that Dick Cheney was the head of Halliburton from 1995-2000 and still had a deferred compensation deal when the war started?

Now you should understand why additional deaths are necessary now but not then. No bid contracts for Halliburton resulted in higher stock prices and made the Vice President a very wealthy man. Now we should all understand why he chose himself as Vice President to this mental midget we call President Bush.

Cheney Urging Strikes On Iran

Ok lets examine this headline more closely. Cheney wants to bomb Iran but doesn't have the same desires for Saudi Arabia who funds the Sunni insurgents within Iraq. I think it is time to realize that this administration is filled with a bunch of war mongering lunatics who are getting richer and richer with each dropped bomb.
President Bush charged Thursday that Iran continues to arm and train insurgents who are killing U.S. soldiers in Iraq, and he threatened action if that continues.

At a news conference Thursday, Bush said Iran had been warned of unspecified consequences if it continued its alleged support for anti-American forces in Iraq. U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker had conveyed the warning in meetings with his Iranian counterpart in Baghdad, the president said.
Again where is any discussion of attacking Saudi Arabia which also was the country of 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11. The same Saudi Arabia that is a dictatorial regime that oppresses its people daily. That talk will never come since the Bush family and the House of Saud that runs Saudi Arabia are as thick as thieves. Iran, that is another case.

Lets look at our history in Iran. It was the CIA that helped topple Mossadegh when he nationalized the Iranian oil industry. It was the United States that propped up the dictatorship of the Shah and it was that support of the Shah that led to the Islamic Revolution that brought Ayatollah Khomeini to power. We have only ourselves to blame for the current problems with Iran. Did we learn anything from our mistakes? Apparently not if we are going to repeat history yet again.

A war with Iran would be devasting to our economy, would inflame the Muslim world even further but I am sure would enrich Mr. Cheney through no bid contracts for Halliburton. Mr. Bush is a mental midget who is easily manipulated by Dick Cheney. I do not hold out much hope of avoiding a war with Iran unless we begin impeachment proceedings aginst this criminal administration. 2008 may be too late.

Hillary Hits Back At Cheney

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Wednesday accused Vice President Dick Cheney of falsely portraying her attempt to get Iraq planning information out of the Pentagon.
The Democratic presidential front-runner has been hammering at the Bush administration for two weeks since a top Pentagon aide refused to tell her whether or how the military was planning for the eventual withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq.

In a letter to the vice president, she accused Cheney of offering "inaccuracies" in opposing her request.

She used even tougher language in an appeal sent to supporters of her presidential bid: "I couldn't care less what Dick Cheney says about me. But when he plays politics with the lives of our troops, you had better be sure I'm going to respond. And I know that you want to respond too."
Hillary Clinton did not ask for specific military plans, she simply asked if plans were being readied for troop withdrawal. That is a more than legitimate question and one that should have been asked a long time ago. The Pentagon chose to question her patriotism.

That is the motus operandi for these freaks. It is always the first response to criticism of their policies. It is good to see a Democrat hitting back hard at this rubbish. True support for our troops includes not sending them to a needless war and when it is necessary to send them you must have a real plan for both victory and withdrawal. The Iraq War has been a disaster since day one, probably because it was the wrong war at the wrong time.

Dick Cheney was a draft dodger and him questioning anyone about their patriotism when he said he had other things to do during Vietnam is hypocrisy at its highest level. The puppet master Cheney is a soulless monster clearly out of touch with reality.

"Feel Good"

This animation puts the Iraq War in perspective through humor whose intention is not to make you laugh but to make you angry and sad and it does that brilliantly. How can we as Americans feel good about our country as the images of a destroyed Iraq and its people roll forward on this animation? My guess is that a large majority of Americans will not and will take stock of exactly what has been done in our name by these lunatics currently running our government.

Iran Denies U.S. Claim of Hezbollah in Iraq

An Iranian official slammed what he called "ridiculous and false claims" from U.S. officials about the "arrest of a foreign citizen in Iraq and his relation with Iran."
CNN reported in an exclusive on Sunday that a top special operations officer from Lebanon's Iranian-backed militia Hezbollah had been captured in Iraq. The U.S. military later publicly confirmed the report and provided details about the arrest.

U.S. officials identified the Hezbollah operative as an explosives expert who played a key role in the January 20 attack that killed five American troops in Karbala, a southern Iraqi city that is one of the most revered to Shiites.
Is this event going to be used by the United States to begin military action against Iran? If that happens the quagmire in Iraq could look like a day at Disney World. The Bush administration, especially Dick Cheney have been pushing for military action against Iran. The funny thing is that while head of Halliburton, Cheney had no problem doing business with Iran in violation of U.S. Law. When will this country wake up and understand that this is a criminal administration. Watching this administration work is like watching The Sopranos.

White House Rejects Subpoenas on Firings of U.S. Prosecutors

The White House asserted executive privilege and rejected two subpoenas from lawmakers probing last year's firings of eight U.S. prosecutors.
"The president has decided to assert executive privilege and therefore the White House will not be making any production in response to these subpoenas for documents," White House Counsel Fred Fielding wrote in a letter to Senator Pat Leahy of Vermont and Representative John Conyers of Michigan, chairmen of the Senate and House Judiciary Committees.

The White House resistance is likely to touch off a constitutional showdown over Congress's ability to investigate the firing of prosecutors and the president's ability to obtain frank counsel from advisers.

"The principles at stake here are of the utmost importance," Fielding said in the letter to lawmakers. "Presidents must be able to depend upon their advisers and other executive branch officials speaking candidly and without inhibition while deliberating and working to advise the president."
I thought Dick Cheney was not part of the executive branch? Lets all watch watch while the Republicans, who insisted Bill Clinton testify about a private affair, rally around this decision by the President. This is a criminal administration and needs to be held accountable.

White House Subpoenaed Over Eavesdropping

The Senate Judiciary Committee subpoenaed the White House and Vice President Dick Cheney's office Wednesday for documents relating to President Bush's warrant-free eavesdropping program.
Also named in subpoenas signed by committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, were the Justice Department and the National Security Council.

The committee wants documents that might shed light on internal disputes within the administration over the legality of the program.

"Our attempts to obtain information through testimony of administration witnesses have been met with a consistent pattern of evasion and misdirection," Leahy said in his cover letters for the subpoenas. "There is no legitimate argument for withholding the requested materials from this committee."

Echoing its response to previous congressional subpoenas to former administration officials Harriet Miers and Sara Taylor, the White House gave no indication that it would comply.

"We're aware of the committee's action and will respond appropriately," White House spokesman Tony Fratto said.

This is a huge issue and will generate a constitutional crisis. The White House will not answer these subpoenas as they have operated as if they are above the law. Could this be the first piece of a puzzle whose ending is impeachment? What about Dick Cheney, will he claim executive privilege after saying he was not part of the executive branch of government?

This is what oversight looks like. The free ride is over for this criminal administration.

Cheney Expose

I will post a link to the excellent expose done on Dick Cheney. The articles are long but need to be read all the way through to really understand exactly who is occupying the office of Vice President.

This is as close as we have come to a shadow government. The Vice President is a dangerous man exerting entirely too much influence on the President who is "intellectually challenged". This is what happens when you elect "the man you want to have a beer with" instead of the most intelligent and qualified person for the job. Lets not make the same mistake in 2008.

White House Defends Cheney's Refusal of Oversight

How much more of this corrupt administration will the American people be forced to endure? The Vice President feels he is above the law and the White House agrees.
White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Cheney is not obligated to submit to oversight by an office that safeguards classified information, as other members and parts of the executive branch are. Cheney's office has contended that it does not have to comply because the vice president serves as president of the Senate, which means that his office is not an "entity within the executive branch."
Is this the same Vice President that claimed EXECUTIVE privilege to hide his energy meetings from the public?

I say lets call his bluff and subpoena him on the outing of Valerie Plame and when he claims executive privilege throw this in his face. That man is dangerous and evil and has crapped on the Constitution long enough.

Cheney Power Grab: Says White House Rules Don't Apply to Him

Vice President Dick Cheney has asserted his office is not a part of the executive branch of the U.S. government, and therefore not bound by a presidential order governing the protection of classified information by government agencies, according to a new letter from Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., to Cheney.
Bill Leonard, head of the government's Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO), told Waxman's staff that Cheney's office has refused to provide his staff with details regarding classified documents or submit to a routine inspection as required by presidential order, according to Waxman.
I believe that Cheney is the most corrupt Vice President in our nations history and the most dangerous. If he isn't part of the executive branch of government, what branch of government does he belong to? Does this mean that his staff will not be able to hide behind "Executive Privilege" when they are subpoenaed?
For the first two years of the George W. Bush administration, Cheney's office complied with a presidential order that requires officials to report statistics on the number of documents it classifies and declassifies.

Since 2003, however, Cheney's office has refused to submit the data to ISOO. And when ISOO inspectors tried in 2004 to schedule a routine inspection of the vice president's offices, they were rebuffed, Waxman's letter claims.

Other White House offices, including the National Security Council, did not object to similar inspections, according to Waxman.

I say call his bluff and let the subpoenas fly.

Senator Lynne Cheney?

What a frightening thought.

I am sure she would remain a right wing tool but what about on Gay issues? She is the mother of a lesbian and the grandmother of a child with two mommies. This could be very interesting should she be appointed. How will she vote when her husband is impeached?

George Tenet on 60 Minutes

In a widely anticipated interview with 60 Minutes, George Tenet, the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, discussed his tenure at the CIA, 9/11 and the so called "slam dunk" comment. Tenet seemed combative, defensive and apologetic. Tomorrow his book "At The Center Of The Storm" hits bookstores. This book is sure to add even more fuel to the fire that Vice President Cheney had an unusually big role in the decision to go to war with Iraq. George Tenet became the scapegoat for a failed policy that chose war in Iraq even though he knew that Iraq had no part in the attacks of September 11. This interview should be seen by everyone.
