Bush Gives The Middle Finger To Nations Poor Children

If you needed any further proof that this President is out of touch with reality, here it is.
President Bush on Wednesday vetoed legislation expanding a children's health insurance program by $35 billion over five years.

Bush quietly exercised the veto at 10 a.m. before leaving the White House for a trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to discuss the federal budget and taxes.

Congress sent the legislation expanding the State Children's Health Insurance Program, or SCHIP, to the White House on Tuesday.

"It is our hope and the will of the American people that the president will sign the bill into law on behalf of the future. It is right for no less than 10 million reasons -- our children," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a joint statement.

The Senate voted 67-29 Thursday to expand the program. Bush has said it's a step toward universal coverage, which he opposes on philosophical grounds.

The program would double -- from 4 million to 8 million -- the number of children covered.

Eighteen Republicans joined all of the Democrats in voting to expand the program from its annual budget of $5 billion to $12 billion for the next five years.
The additional costs were to be largely paid for by additional taxes on cigarettes unlike the endless war which is borrowed funds and will have to be paid for by the same children he just refused health care.

President Bush is the worst President in United States history. 2009 can not come soon enough. Lets hope there is something left to salvage. The only silver lining is that George W. Bush is driving the Republican Party off the cliff.

Leave no child behind? The veto by Bush leaves millions of American children and their families behind. What shameless hypocrisy! Christ says to let the little children come to him for they represent the realm of God.
Bush, by contrast, says: go away and drop dead. Why is this hypocrite still president?

Blame the President for these parents not having health care for their own children, not the parents themselves.

Do you expect anything different from the the WAR-PIG ANTI-CHRIST? He does the opposite of everything good and decent at every turn. And how much will "Iran: The Reckoning" cost us? We live in a time of State-Sponsored Madness. I fear our children will inherit the holy trinity of FEAR, GREED, and NATIONALISM, thanks Repukes.

Do you ignorant democrats know what that bill would have done to us? It would have raised our taxes to astronomical levels. How, you ask? To start, it wouldnt have been only those without coverage that would jump on the program, it would also be those with expensive insurance jumping on the program. Which in turn will jack up the cost even more. After awhile insurance companies would create programs that would enable parents to drop their children so they could be paid for by the government. Oh and lets not forget what the illegal aliens would do!!
And for your information I am not a republican or a democrat. I am a realist.
You people fail to see the forest through the trees. It makes me wonder how any of you have made it this far. You read one headline and want to start bashing. This goes for both left and right wings.

This program was paid almost entirely by a tax on cigarettes. Where is your outrage over the deficit which in years to come will raise taxes more than a $35 billion program over 5 years. The cost of this program is three months in Iraq. Where is your outrage over that?

This article is about the child health care bill. Not the war in Iraq. I support a full pullout, however there isnt much support in congress or the American populous. You dont believe me? Then how come thousands marched & protested for the Jena 6, but you cant get a lowly hundred people together to march and protest on Washington against the war? Where is the voice and passion that we seen during the Vietnam war? You really think the democrats want to withdraw the troops? If they did then how come NOBODY in Congress or the Senate is pushing to pass a law making it a felony to stay in Iraq? All they have to do is exactly what Mike Gravel (08 presidential candidate and former senator from Alaska) says they have to do. But they dont want to, WHY? because they dont really want to leave either. Ask yourself why they are building the worlds biggest Embassy in Iraq along with the world biggest military airbase? Because we will be there long after the next democrat is elected. Same crap different political party. Hillary and Obama are just feeding you what you WANT to hear. They're not going to change much, if anything. You have to look behind the BS to find the real story. Follow the MONEY trail behind each candidate and you will find the truth.

Following the money is a good idea but until we change the system of financing elections nothing will change. I am for public financing of all campaigns. As for Iraq I agree with you but there was recently 100,000 people protesing in Washington yet it was not covered by any of the news media. How do I know? I was there and it was never mentioned. Our media has also been corrupted and needs to be split apart. No longer should five companies control the airwaves. I am sure there is a lot we would agree on but cutting the SCHIP program is a bad idea on mnay levels. One day in Iraq would cover 250,000 children. The priorities of this natiopn are severely screwed up. We will next go to Iran to steal their oil. This is really all about financial dominance not WMD. The one who controls the oil controls the world and it seems we are willing to kill to get control.

That is just sad. 100,000 people and there has not been any mention that I have heard of either. This nation is severely screwed.
I am voting for Mike Gravel for president. If you really feel the same as I do then I suggest you do as well. His website is http://www.gravel2008.us/ he has many videos of interviews and debates as well as text on his stance on the important issues. Spread the word, if anyone can lead us out of the hole we are in it is him.
About the SCHIP program. It is funded by taxes on cigarettes which is good but what happens when those funds dry up because of smokers quiting or others not starting the habit? Then it would have to be funded some other way. Plus you add to the fact that it is the government has it hands in health care which screams of socialized medicine. I dont mind, but there are MANY fanatics out there that want less government control in their private matters. Which is why I am shocked that many people are for this program. Or maybe they are for it because Bush is against it and it is another reason to BASH Bush.

Many people cry that Iraq is just a war for oil. Those same hypocrites are driving around in their huge HUMMERS, NAVIGATORS, SUBURBANS, YUKON DENALIS, LAND ROVERS, EXPLORERS AND EXPEDITIONS. Got to have my HEMI gosh darn it!! I need my 350hp car so I can pull my boat to the lake once a year. Oh and dont forget the OIL, COAL, and NATURAL GAS power plants spewing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere so we all can heat/cool our 5,000 sqft McMANSIONS! But thats a different topic.

I drive a fuel efficient small car and have for years. I agree about the Hummers and would support a gas guzzling tax on those type of vehicles. As for the government having its hands in health care, it already does. Its called Medicare and the administrative costs of that program are less than 5% and ther is no profit motive. It is that system that should be expanded to cover everyone. You can pick your own doctor and referals are not necessary. It is a successful program. We are the only industrialized country that does not have universal coverage. We are ranked 37th in health care delivery in the world and have the 42nd best life expectancy yet we spend more per person on health care than any nation on earth. That sure doesn't sound like a system that is working.

Jeff, You are preaching to the choir. I would love to see universal health care, but there are many SHEEP in this country who believe what they are fed. and that is that universal health care equals government controlled health care which equals socialist ideas. And Socialism is BAD!!! oooooo!!!! Yet if you wanted to get rid of SOCIAL security or pensions ( social programs) they cry foul! The problem with the SCHIP program was how the Democrats USED the Kids to get everyone all sentimental and get on the Anti-Bush bandwagon. Not only that but how it was funded. I think any tax on cigarettes should go only towards cigarette prevention and health care costs. The funds for SCHIP should come from regular tax dollars, or better yet a tariff on imported Chinese toys, since they are the ones making the kids sick. LOL
